Eleven years ago, Dalton Elliott knew virtually nothing about private lending.
Six weeks after graduating from college, he accepted the first job offer he received and joined Lima One Capital as a Credit Analyst. The company had just over a dozen employees, originated a few million dollars a month, and was still primarily a regional lender.
Today, Elliott is President of MM Lending.
What happened between those two points is not simply a succession of increasingly senior job titles.
Elliott learned the business from credit outward. He moved into sales despite not seeing himself as a salesperson. He built lending channels and teams, learned what happens when growth moves faster than infrastructure, transitioned from tactical execution to strategic leadership, left the company where he had spent his entire twenties without another job lined up, stepped outside private lending, returned to what he now calls his “home” and his “tribe,” and eventually accepted responsibility for an entire lending platform.
